“What is happening is genocide” she told supporters, “deliberately aimed at destroying not only the lives but wiping out the existence of Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East in territory controlled by ISIS.”
Clinton has been loath to use the term in the past.
“I think I was asked this a couple months ago, and I said, you know, that term carries with it legal import. It is a very important concept and label for behavior that deserves that name," Clinton she explained. "I said we are only at the beginning at seeing this and I am not sure yet we have enough evidence. I am sure now we have enough evidence.”
The Democratic Party previously put out an advert exhorting people not to use the term 'Radical Islam,' arguing the term is "equating Islam, all Muslims, with terrorists."
The Islamic State has been steadily slaughtering Christian and other minority groups since it took over large swaths of Iraq and Syria last year. When the group captured Mosul and Nineveh 120,000 Christians were forced to flee. Yazidis, an ancient minority religious sect, have also been heavily persecuted and many Yazidi women have been kidnapped into sex-slavery.

It is about time that our leaders correctly identify what is taking place in Syria and Iraq as a deliberate campaign of genocide.
